What To Expect in your Ayurveda Wellness Session
Assessment, educational information, guidance, coaching, support and hands-on therapies help you achieve your wellness goals.
Your return to optimal health begins with a two-part New Patient Assessment:
Part one is a 90 minute Intake Assessment during which I gather information about your physical, mental and emotional health and patterns, and perform several diagnostic assessments. From this information, I develop your short-term and long-term treatment recommendations and individually-tailored herbal formulas.
Part two is a 45 minute Report of Findings during which I share the results of the assessment including your constitution (prakriti), current state of imbalance (vikruti) and get you started with the initial recommendations to bring you back to your natural state of wellness.
Follow-up Sessions are dictated by your needs and goals.
Your unique treatment program is designed to assist you in reducing the imbalance so that your body has the best chance possible to heal itself. You are also building awareness and creating a foundation of self-care and healthy habits.
At each follow-up visit we evaluate how your new and modified habits are developing, examine challenges and explore creative solutions for success. Symptoms are tracked and monitored as a way to see your overall wellness progress and underlying balance. Finally, additional recommendations or modifications are then given based on how your healing is progressing.
Lifestyle recommendations may not always will feel comfortable. Because Ayurveda has a wide variety of techniques to help restore your internal balance, if something doesn’t feel right based on your beliefs or needs, you can opt to start with something different.
Likewise, if you haven’t been able to implement all the recommendations between appointments, do NOT CANCEL. Gaining an understanding of what the resistance or challenge of putting the actions into practice is part of the process. It is especially important to get support when feeling stuck, uncomfortable or challenged.
Sessions can be 30, 45, 60, 75 90, or 120 minutes in duration. If you are combining integrating bodywork or BodyMind coaching into the session, at least one hour is required.
Initially follow-up sessions are one to two weeks apart to help you establish new habits and patterns and monitor changes. As your symptoms improve, you develop a foundation of healthy habits and you gain an understanding of what keeps you healthy, sessions are scheduled less often - once a month or more to make adjustments address the seasonal shifts.
Sessions can include any of the following elements to best meet your needs:
- Wellness follow-up and tracking, including symptom assessment, pulse and tongue diagnosis
- Herbal formula evaluation and adjustment
- Life coaching activities and techniques
- Lifestyle and pattern modifications
- Home therapy tools include aroma, color, gem, and sound therapies
- Posture evaluation and modification support
- Corrective exercises and stretches
- Education on yoga and meditation techniques
- Craniosacral therapy to release energy cysts and imbalances stored in the body
- Soft tissue massage techniques to release musculo-skeletal tension
- Nutritional diet support based on your constitution and current state of imbalance
You remain fully clothed during sessions unless you are receiving soft-tissue massage as part of your session; otherwise proper draping techniques are used.
