This light and lovely dish can be either a snack or a simple dessert.

Although I tend to make cooked fruit dishes more often in the cooler seasons, it can be eaten any time, especially if you have a vata imbalance or constitution.


Spiced Apples & Pears

Enjoy sprinkled with toasted pecans, as a topping to your favorite pancakes or hot cereal, or mashed into a sauce.

  • 1 apple
  • 1 pear
  • 1 Tbsp. ghee
  • ½ tsp. cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp. cardamom
  • ¼ tsp. ginger
  • ¼ tsp. nutmeg
  • ¼ cup water or apple cider


  1. Peel and slice 1 apple and 1 pear.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the ghee and add the spices.  

  3. Reduce heat to medium-low and add 1/4 cup of water or apple cider. Cover and sauté until the fruit is tender but not mushy.
